Reflection on Oral Presentation

After a nerve-wrecking 30 minutes on Thursday, Oral Presentation is finally over!

Let's do a bit of evaluation.

Overall Team Presentation

Strengths:
I feel that overall, the team is well-prepared. In terms of slide transition, speech flow and the handing over of presentation part to the next speaker.

Even though the three of us have different distinctive style of presentation and speech flow, we manage to make sure that the pace of our presentation throughout is more or less consistent. Also, all of us manage to convey our enthusiasm in our proposal!

Weakness:
I feel that we did not make full use of Prezi.com. I have the feeling, as I have mentioned to Charles that Prezi was not fully optimised by us. I am sure that Prezi.com has a lot of wonderful tools and functions but we have only just touched the tip of its iceberg. However, for a first attempt and due to time constraints, I am quite happy with our slides. Kudos to Qi who is the IT savy one in our group!

Individual - My own

Strengths:
Smooth delivery of the presentation (thanks to numerous practices at home with my bored sister as the audience).

Oh, one thing that I am quite happy is that I have manage to inject enthusiasm in my presentation! Usually when I present I am quite monotonous or lifeless. So I quite proud of my own achievements.

I have also tried to make eye contact with everyone in the class but I don't know if its obvious.

Weakness:
I have to smile a bit as feedback is that I am too serious to the point that people is saying I am fierce! I remembered about enthusiasm but forgot about the smiling part...oh well..

I felt that certain parts in my speech I should have pause a bit more. But I was too nervous so I ended up giving only a short pause when it could have been longer to emphasize my point.

  1. Hey Anglia,

Replying to your comment on my post, I take comments very seriously in improving myself. =DI am glad you enjoyed our presentation.

With reference to your presentation, I feel that it was a good presentation. The concerns are real, and the proposed plans are quite convincing.

Next, I agree with you that more could have been done in utilizing Prezi. Prezi is an amazing platform, which I would use in the future to add a spice in my presentation.

Lastly, I feel that your presentation is very professional. The dressing is good, the delivery is good. There is a tinge of seriousness in your tone, yet not too much. It shows that you are sure of your idea and "hey, you guys listen and don't fool around, because this concern is real" feeling. I am not sure if you should have smiled more, probably it should depend on your topic, but you grabbed my attention in that presentation.

  2. Hi Angelia,

I could tell that your team did a lot of preparation on the proposal, for all of you know your parts very well. Plus, I was swayed at the end of the presentation to agree with you that we do need an internship programme here in FoS! So great job!

Regarding your presentation style, I could tell that you were making eye contact! Personally I thought that you not smiling made the whole presentation more professional, as the content itself is pretty serious. Maybe you might want to inject some humour into your presentations next time, to make the presentation a little bit more lighthearted. If you can get the audience to smile, you will end up feeling more relaxed and smiley too! :D

  3. Hello fellow team mate! :)

I felt you performed really well in terms of delivery of your lines. The time and effort spent in perfecting your speech really did pay off! :)I think you did an awesome job in wrapping up our presentation as a whole, as you recapped our parts, it helped the audience recall what each of us has presented. :) I personally don't think you come across as fierce as I thought your tone this time around was just nice, it was professional and yet not too uptight!

For the purpose of presentations in future, you could try to vary your intonation to prevent your presentation from being very monotonous! However, I could already see conscious effort in that from our very first presentation together, until the last one we had recently, so KUDOS TO YOU! :)

Thank you for being the accountable team mate that you are! :)

Just an advice from me. In the future, you can show more of your passion in your presentation. I think after adding this factor to your presentation, you will be really brilliant.
By the way, thanks for your good effort to make all these happen. You are a wonderful teammate!
